Congratulations to the Early County Middle School Young Georgia Author Writing Competition winners for 2021 – 2022. Pictured on the left, Kayden Davis (6th grade) and pictured on the right, Brianna Nunally (8th grade.) These students’ winning writings will be advancing to Southwest Georgia RESA to compete with other grade level school winners.

The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors (YGA) writing competition is to encourage students to develop enthusiasm for and expertise in their writing, to provide a context to celebrate their writing successes, and to recognize student achievement in arts and academics. This prestigious competition has been engaging Georgia students for more than two decades and is open to any student currently enrolled in Georgia public schools, grades K-12. The competition is co-sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Council of Teachers of English. Entries must be the original work of the student, including edits and revisions, and may include short stories, poems, essays, journalism, or research reports. Student writers are evaluated on expression of ideas, language use, and unique perspective and voice.
