Sports Hall of Fame induction



Roscoe Nash began his teaching career at East Fannin High School in Morganton, Georgia. He taught biology, chemistry and physics and coached the girls’ basketball team for four years. On April 9th, he and his 1965-66 team (pictured above) were inducted into the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame. The team had a record of 24 wins and 6 losses. East Fannin High School and West Fannin High School were later combined to form Fannin County High School. During the history of East Fannin High School, this was the only girls’ basketball team to advance to the state tournament. Because of this accomplishment, they were selected by the Board of Directors of the Hall of Fame as one of the inductees for 2022. A banquet and induction ceremony were held in Fannin County. Nash and team members able to attend were honored and presented a Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame medallion inscribed with their name, team name and their record for the year. A plaque with a team picture, their names and team record are being placed in the Hall of Fame located in the Fannin County Sports Complex.
