Blakely Police Department
The City of Blakely Police Department is advising citizens to be cautious of a gift card scam circulating in the area.
An email with the name councilmember87@gmail.com, claiming to be Mayor Travis Wimbush, is requesting recipients to purchase gift cards and then communicate solely via text message about the cards.
BPD says these emails are not legitimate as city officials will not ask for purchases in this manner. If you receive such an email, or one like it, disregard it and do not forward it to anyone else.
Blakely Fire Department
The Blakely Fire Department has been made aware of a fire department t-shirt scam going around. The City of Blakely and Early County Fire Department are NOT selling any fire department shirts.
