Mary Brinson



Mary Kathryn Brinson, 87, passed away on May 20, 2022, in Mobile, Ala. She was born on June 20, 1934, in Albany, Ga. to the late Clarence G. and Kate Morrison Brewer. Mary Kathryn attended and obtained her Master’s in education through the University of South Alabama. She became a teacher with the Mobile County Public School System. Mary Kathryn taught fourth grade and retired following twenty-four years of dedicated service with Forest Hill Elementary. She loved teaching and being a part of providing knowledge to her students. Mary Kathryn enjoyed gardening and traveling the world. She had the opportunity to visit six of the seven continents. Mary Kathryn loved spending time with her beloved husband of sixty-seven years, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She never took for granted the precious moments cherished with everyone.

Mary Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Matthew Clary.

Left to cherish Mary Kathryn’s beautiful memories will be her husband, James “Jim” Brinson, four children: Kate Clary (Kyle), Kim Brinson, Jimbo Brinson (Carol), Jeff Brinson (Kelly), eight grandchildren: Lauren Minatta (Brandon), Nicholas Clary, Geoffrey Clary (Miley), Brinson Straub, Kathryn Bandy (David), Hampton Mitchell (Nathan), Baylor Brinson, Brooks Brinson, three great-grandchildren: Hayden Brooks Minatta, Blakely Madison Minatta, Bryn Elyse Bandy, one brother, Jimmy Brewer (Venita); along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to SAADS Hospice for the professional care provided to Mary Kathryn during this great time of need.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in honor of Mary Kathryn Brinson to: Spring Hill Baptist Church Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

A memorial visitation will be held at Spring Hill Baptist Church on Friday, June 10, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m.
