It’s the same Jesus

Weekly Devotional

“…..some friends bring a paralyzed man to Jesus and seeing their faith, He said to the paralyzed man, “Be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven.” Matthew 9:2

You are probably familiar with this gospel account of how some friends not deterred by the crowd blocking their way, broke through the roof of the house where Jesus was teaching and lowered their paralyzed friend into His presence.

When Jesus saw him, He encouraged him, “my child, your sins are forgiven”. These bold words were important because these people, that didn’t know Jesus, thought sickness and disease were the result of their sin.

Jesus forgave him of his sins before healing him to remove any obstacle to him receiving. Receiving God’s promises are much easier when no uncertainty is standing between you and your need. We, being saved, redeemed and justified because of Jesus opens a door to God’s kingdom no one can close.

We are told in Hebrews 4:16 to come boldly to God’s throne of grace, and not hope to obtain, but “TO OBTAIN” mercy and grace to help in our time of need.

The paralyzed man came wanting to be healed, but Jesus gave him the full package. Jesus even said “which is easier, forgive your sins or heal you?” (Matthew 9:5)—It’s the same Jesus.

Not a problem with HIM!!!!
