Historic Wesley welcomes Reverend Jonathan and Dr. Shonjala Moore

On Friday, June 3, 2022, in Columbus, Georgia, at the Sixth Episcopal District Planning Meeting of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, the 132nd elected and consecrated AME Bishop Reginald Thomas Jackson appointed The Reverend Jonathan Moore as Senior Pastor of the Historic Wesley Chapel AME Church in Blakely, Georgia. Reverend Moore is an AME Itinerant Elder and has been preaching for approximately 15 years. He is currently enrolled at the oldest historically Black accredited university in the country, Wilberforce University Payne Theological Seminary, located in Ohio. Reverend Moore is slated to complete his Master of Divinity degree in 2023. Moore’s wife, Reverend Shonjala Moore, also an AME Itinerant Elder and newly minted PhD in Psychology, will provide ministerial and administrative support as appropriate as they take Wesley to the next level in stewardship, scholarship, leadership and evangelism.

All of the Prospering People of Historic Wesley invite each of you to join them in person (masked and socially distanced) or on Facebook each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. for inspirational, challenging and empowering worship experiences under this new “Magnificent Moore” administration.
