It’s the time of year when excitement begins to build for Peanut Proud Festival and all of the festivities that lead up to the much anticipated day. Each year, the fourth Saturday in March brings many visitors to Blakely and revenue for our local businesses and vendors.
This year, the date of Peanut Proud is Saturday, March 26th. It begins at 9:00 a.m. and the fun lasts until 11:00 p.m.
All the plans and preparation are happening now and on March 1st the first signs of the festival will arrive, the Peanut People. Now is a good time to check on your peanut people and make sure they’re looking their best and ready to greet visitors at the festival.
Before the actual day arrives, the Peanut Proud organizers host the Peanut Proud Poker Run as a “kickoff” to National Peanut Month and Peanut Proud Festival. The poker run will be held this year on Saturday, March 5th. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. on the Court Square. More information can be found at peanutproudfestival.com/pokerrun.
As always, there will be a square full of vendors with great food and arts and crafts. The deadline to submit an application to be a vendor is March 1st. To request to receive a vendor application, go to peanutproudfestival.com/ vendors.
The Peanut Proud Store will be open for two weeks before the festival and will be located this year at the Chamber of Commerce. There will be more information in future editions of the News with hours of operations and available merchandise.
It’s been announced that Clay Walker will be the headlining entertainer at Peanut Proud! There will be more information coming soon on additional entertainers.
