Early County News

A blast from the past

This picture, shared with the Early County News by Elvyn Vickers, was taken in May of 1971. These and other members of the Homemakers Clubs attended conventions and enjoyed many other field trips. On this occasion, a chartered bus loaded with Early County Homemakers traveled on a one day trip to Atlanta for a shopping spree hosted by Rich’s Department Store.

In the early 1970s, Early County had a Homemakers Council that was sponsored by the Georgia Cooperative Extension Service. The Council represented the eight Homemakers Clubs in the county including Blakely, Cedar Springs, Colomokee, Cuba, Freeman, Lucille, New Hope and Rowena.
