Woolf named Coach of the Year

Former Bobcat coach Trey Woolf, now head coach of the Daleville, Ala., Warhawks was named The Southeast Sun/Daleville Sun- Courier Coach of the Year.

Woolf, who retired after 16 years as head coach of the Bobcats, had 109 wins in 16 seasons at Early County from 2001-2016.

Warhawks’ coach Rob Armstrong departed the school late in the summer leaving school officials scrambling for a new head coach just weeks before the start of the football season.

Woolf was hired July 18 just weeks before the Warhawks’ season opener.

The Warhawks lost three of their first four games under Woolf before winning four of their last five games, earning a playoff spot.

Daleville stunned Reeltown on the road in the first round of the playoffs before losing the second round playoff game to Leroy.
