The Warriors’ Ty Cooper (68) and Cole Bruner (35) look to block Crisp Academy defenders as quarterback Austin Pickle turns to hand off the ball in Friday night’s weather shortened game in Cordele. On Friday, Aug. 31 the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors played the Crisp Academy Wildcats. Due to lightning, the game was called with 5 minutes and 52 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. The Warriors won 36-6.

The offense had a total of 408 yards. Senior Luke Benton had 18 carries, 243 yards rushing, and 3 touchdowns. Senior Keyshawn Jackson had 7 carries for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. Freshman Preston Johnson had 5 carries for 27 yards. Freshman Nic Weathersby had 1 carry for 13 yards.

When asked about the game, head coach, Coach McFather said “We’re disappointed we didn’t get to finish out the game, but we’re definitely proud of the win. We had some younger guys step up in some key roles. Lord willing we will continue to improve into next week’s game and remain in the win column.”
