SGA Warriors lose to Raiders in Americus

The SGA Warriors battled Southland Academy Friday in Americus. The Warriors put up 343 total offensive yards, but fell short, losing 29-6 to the Raiders.

Southland led the warriors 22-0 in the third quarter before Pickle connected with Benton on a 47 yard pass for a touchdown for the Warriors and their only score of the night.

Senior Luke Benton led the offense with 13 carries, 58 yards and three receptions for 113 yards. Senior Keyshawn Jackson had two receptions for 55 yards and senior quarterback Austin Pickle completed five of eight passes for168 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Holden Phillips led the defense with 19 tackles, one tackle for a loss. Junior Brooks Mathis had 10 tackles, one tackle for a loss, junior Cole Bruner had nine tackles, junior Ted Sasser had eight tackles, senior Austin Pickle had seven tackles, senior, Keyshawn Jackson, had four tackles and senior Luke Benton had seven tackles and one interception.

When asked about the game, head coach, Coach McFather, said “Our players played hard. Even though we came up short in the game we made improvements from the previous week. Our goal is still to get better each week. We plan to work hard this week, and continue improving against Crisp Academy next week.”
