Crane new leader at GP


John Crane John Crane John Crane has joined Georgia-Pacific as vice president and general manager of the Cedar Springs Containerboard Operations.

Over Crane’s successful 30-plus year career in paper manufacturing, he has held various leadership roles of increasing responsibility with Kimberly Clark and SCA. He spent his past three years as senior plant manager of two of Clearwater Paper Corporation’s facilities in Ladysmith and Neenah, Wis.

Originally from the Atlanta area, Crane earned a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA degree from Memphis University. Crane and his wife Tammie are relocating to the Dothan area.

“John Crane’s extensive manufacturing and leader- ship experience and his accomplishments in delivering consistent improvements in safety, operational efficiencies, capital project performance, and talent development will prove valuable as we continue to focus on safe, reliable operations and customer satisfaction at Cedar Springs,” said Ken Li, vice president – container board operations.

In welcoming Crane, Li also expressed appreciation to Darren Sims, mill operations manager, for his capable leadership in serving as Cedar Springs’s interim general manager for the last few months.
