GSP accident reports

Two drivers escaped injury Aug. 15 in a construction zone on Highway 39 where a Georgia DOT resurfacing project has been underway for several weeks.

The accident happened approximately one half mile north of the Chandler-White Road intersction where a line of traffic was stopped in the northbound lane.

A construction truck driven by Willie English, 69, of Albany, headed to the paving site, was passing the line of traffic when Graham English 64, First Kolomoki Road, attempted to turn into a driveway. The truck struck English’s 1998 Chevy S10 in the rear quarter panel.

English stated the radio man notified him “it was clear, come on.” No injuries were reported. Pedestrian hit in Damascus

A motorist struck three vehicles and a pedestrian Saturday night near Damascus. The accident was after midnight Saturday on Thompson Street just south of Damascus.

According to the GSP accident report, Amanda Renee Shelley of 6374 Killebrew Rd., Damascus, was headed east on Thompson Street driving a 2004 Honda Accord when she struck a parked vehicle on the right shoulder, then struck pedestrian Marcus Hayes, 31, of Macon, then struck two parked vehicles on the left shoulder.

Hayes was taken to the Colquitt Medical Center with injuries.

Shelley was charged with DUI - combined influences, failure to maintain lane and driving with an expired license.
