Warriors open at home Friday


2018 Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors 2018 Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors SGA Warriors head coach Daniel McFather is looking for his Warriors to build on last season’s success heading into his second season at SGA.

During McFather’s first season the Warriors won the region championship and advanced to the second round of the GISA State Playoffs.

Their season kicks off Friday night in Damascus when they host the Abbeville Christian Academy Generals.

The Warriors’ starting offense Friday night will include: quarterback - Austin Pickle, runningback - Rodriguez Davis, fullback - Preston Johnson, wide receiver - Keyshawn Jackson, wingback - Holden Phillips, tightend - Aiden Bruner, tackles - Lance LaGuardia and Ted Sasser, guards - Ty Cooper and Collier McLendon, and center - Brooks Mathis.

Starting defensively for the Warriors will be: defensive ends Aiden Bruner and Beau Watson, defensive tackles Ted Sasser and Collier McLendon, outside linebackers Rodriguez Davis and Holden Phillips, inside linebackers Cole Bruner and Preston Johnson, cornerbacks Austin Pickle and Luke Benton and safety Keyshawn Jackson.

Special teams: punter - Beau Watson, kicker - Luke Benton and long snapper - Holden Phillips.

Other Warriors who will be playing significant roles on the field include: Rylan O’Hearn, Zack Alderman, Beau Collins, Conner Pickle, Cade Nixon, Jaxon Gordon, Tyler Pruitt, Ethan Ragan, Mac Cox, Hunter Miliner, Kole Kimbrel, Coy Bruner, Jack Davis, Charlie Hiat, KC Stuart, Nic Weathersby, and Ethan Barron.

Assistant coaches include Caleb McFather, Danny Doster, Curtis Stanfield, Eric Kimbrel, Noah McFather, Tony Smith, Brooks Carter, and Adam Benton.
