Fall is sure to be sensational!

Chamber Notes & News
Cecelia Bostwick

Christmas on the Square will be dedicated to Early County’s Bicentennial. With that in mind, we want this to be our biggest and best event ever — including our parade. Christmas on the Square is always kicked-off on Friday night with local retailers and restaurants participating in Moonlight Madness — and the next day Christmas on the Square sets the tone for the holiday season with laughter, fun, food, entertainment and vendors — and, of course, the parade and Santa Claus.

The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. and we want every club, band, business, beauty queen, church, team, cheerleader squad, school and organization to participate.

If you want to decorate your golf cart and load your kids in it — do it! Want to show off that new tractor — decorate that baby and put her in. Churches, decorate a float and put your children and elders on it. Motorcycle and car clubs — we always look forward to seeing you there.

The time to plan is now! Vendors, get your goods together. Parade participants, make a float, plan decorations for trucks, tractors, golf carts, walkers, etc. Plan for a fantastically fun day on Dec. 1, 2018.

This week, I attended an Access to Capital Forum to Grow & Expand Your Business sponsored by The U.S. Small Business Administration, Columbus SCORE Chapter and the Columbus Small Business Development Center. I gathered a lot of information and resources. Stop by the Chamber, if you are thinking about starting a small business — we will be happy to share what we have learned as well as direct you to free resources with expert and professional assistance. Most will come to the Chamber to assist you.

First Thursdays Kick-off Sept. 6 and we are planning a great evening. The kids can enjoy fun and games on the Square — including free ice cream, popsicles, corn hole games, races, etc. Great vendors with homemade items, face painting, stylish clothing and jewelry, jellies, jams, cakes, etc. Don’t miss it.

We had more than 20 who signed up for Line Dancing — we will be polling to see if there is still interest — which from all indication — there is — so, that means we will begin classes toward the end of the month.

We need volunteers, vendors, parade participants, event volunteers. Call the Chamber at 229-723- 3741, if you are interested in working to make our community a better place to live, work and raise families.
