BACK-TO-SCHOOL ...already?

It seems like only a couple of weeks ago we were scurrying around trying to pull together the information for end of school and graduations. Already, we are doing the same thing for “back-to-school!”

The “summer vacation” comes to an end next week for Early County School System students when they return to the classrooms Friday, July 27.

Most Southwest Georgia Academy students return to school Friday, Aug. 3 and Pataula Charter Academy’s first day of school will be Wednesday, August 8.

ECSS new teacher orientation for eleven new teachers will be Thursday, July 19. All ECSS teachers will be back in school July 23-26 for “In Service Days.”

Back-to-school activities kickoff at SGA July 31 with K-5 orientation, pre-planning Aug 1 - 2 and a new family supper and PTO meeting Aug. 2.

PCA new student orientation and a high school kickoff will be Thursday, Aug. 2 in Edison.

Enjoy while you can!

While many — most students, many teachers... parents not so much — are bemoaning the end of summer vacation, there are actually headlines to articles out there not so sympathetic.

“Ending Summer Vacation is Long Overdue” and “Why We Should Get Rid Of Summer Vacation” are a couple of the headlines.

While the “summer vacation” is not likely going away anytime soon, it is likely to continue getting chipped away at for a variety of reasons.
