Aggravated assault suspects caught

Authorities have arrested three local fugitives with outstanding warrants of aggravated assault.

Early Co. Sheriff’s investigators arrested Benjamin Wimberly, 24, of Blakely July 12. Wimberly, who had eight outstanding warrants of aggravated assault, had been sought by authorities in connection with a June 9 incident where numerous shots were fired into a residence on Church St. Several suspects had previously been arrested in connection with the shooting incident.

Olajawun Douglas, 23, of Blakely, a suspect with three outstanding aggravated assault warrants in connection with another June 9 shooting incident on Church St., was located and arrested by deputies July 12.

These charges stem from an altercation followed by gunfire on North Church St., near the clubs, the morning of June 9.

On July 13 deputies arrested Deon James, 23, of Blakely on warrants stemming from a New Year’s Day shooting on Mulberry Lane that left one man injured.

James faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation.
