Elizabeth Alexander

Elizabeth Stewart Alexander, 90, of 803 S. Wiley Street, Donalsonville, Ga., passed away June 26, 2018, at her daughter’s home.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Blakely, Ga., to Kittie (Bragan) and Wheeler Stewart on Nov. 12, 1927. Roy and Elizabeth were married on Jan. 26, 1946. In 1952, they moved to Decatur, Ga. Elizabeth resided in Decatur for almost 60 years where she ran her own business, Elizabeth’s Beauty Lounge. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Bonanza Garden Club, various bridge clubs and charitable organizations.

She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife and mother. No one in her life ever had to worry — she worried for all of us.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years and best friend, Roy E. Alexander Jr.; by her infant brother and sister, (twins) Billy and Betty; and a greatgrandson, Matthew Jernigan.

Survivors include two daughters, India Jernigan and Jim of Donalsonville, and Kitty Kasper and Chris of Wasilla, Alaska. She will be lovingly remembered by her four grandsons, Alex Jernigan and Nancy, Trowell Jernigan and Jan, Mark Kasper and Ruby and Michael Kasper and Stephanie. She was the proud great grandmother of Erin and Emily Simmerock, Matthew, Tate, Seth and Lenton Jernigan, Audrey, Elizabeth, Roy, Miles and Mira Kasper. She was also survived by a sister and brother-inlaw, Winifred and Winston Felder; and nieces and nephews. She was lovingly cared for by Catherine Williams.

Funeral services were Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Blakely, with Rev. Nate Lehman officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral at 1 p.m. in the social hall.

Burial was in the Blakely Cemetery with Alex Jernigan, Trowell Jernigan, Mark Kasper, Tater Jernigan, Trey Herring and Cleary “Chip” Doussan serving as pallbearers.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
