Friends earn degrees in nursing, complete national certification


Lawante Scott, Temeka Buggs and Janett Davis Lawante Scott, Temeka Buggs and Janett Davis Janett Davis, Lawante Scott and Temeka Buggs are friends who not only completed nurse practitioner school but also successfully completed the national certification exam.

Davis graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1993. She received nurse’s aide certification from Albany Technical Institute in 1997 when they had the Blakely site. Davis then returned to Albany Tech, Albany site, and graduated with certification for licensed practical nursing in 2002. She graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from Wallace Community College in 2008. Next, she attended Albany State University and received a bachelor of science degree in nursing in 2014 and a master of science in nursing with a concentration in family nurse practitioner in May 2018. She resides in Blakely with her husband, Lemorris, and they have four children, Trevian, Trevonte’, Trevarius and Allannah; and one granddaughter, Aubree.

Scott graduated from Seminole County High School in 1999. She received certification for license practical nursing from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus in 2003. In 2008, she received an associate’s degree in nursing from Bainbridge College. Lawante graduated from Walden University in May 2018 with a master of science in nursing with a concentration in family nurse practitioner in May 2018. Scott lives in Donalsonville and is married to Charles Scott. She has one son, Keenan.

Buggs is a class of 2000 graduate of Early County High School. She received nurse’s aide certification while in high school and worked as a CNA at the local nursing home while in nursing school. She graduated from Wallace Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing in 2004. She received a bachelors of science in nursing from Albany State University in 2014 and a master of science in nursing with a concentration in family nurse practitioner from Albany State May 2018. Temeka lives in Blakely with her husband, Joseph, and two sons, Mason and Jalen.
