Larry Coleman

Samuel Larry Coleman, 78, of Blakely, Ga., passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Miller County Hospital, Colquitt, Ga.

Mr. Coleman was born Aug. 7, 1939, in Edison, Ga., to the late John Samuel Coleman Jr. and Beryl Fellows Coleman. He worked for 18-1/2 years for Duke Farm Equipment Company and 18-1/2 years at the H.T. McLendon Company, both in Edison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam era. He was a member, deacon and trustee of Southside Baptist Church, Blakely, Ga.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Jones Coleman of Blakely; and two godchildren, Greg McFay and Leigh McFay of Colquitt.

The funeral service was held Sunday, June 24, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Williams officiating. Burial with military rites followed in the Blakely Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Cliff Starr, Johnny Scarborough, George Hartley, Ernie Ford, Earl Jones, Phillip Moore, Mike Boyd, Greg McFay, Glenn McLendon and Harry Wayne Parrish.

Honorary pallbearers were Ted McLendon, Bobby Brooks, Jack Brooks, Frank Miller, Gerald Isler, Gene Mobley, Verna Sammons, Nick Nichols, Perry Jarrett, Lamar Willis, Ed Easom, David Jones, George Jones and David Bass.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 644, Blakely, GA 39823.

Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
