Larry Middleton

Larry Anderson Middleton, 85, of 7435 Old Lucile Road, passed away at his residence, Tuesday, May 29, 2018. His funeral was held, Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 4 p.m. at the chapel of Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Fuller and Dr. Rev. Richard Hawks officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service beginning at 3 p.m. Burial was in the Blakely Cemetery. Pallbearers were Scotty Scott, Vance Daniels, Danny Chandler, W.L. Chapman, Pete Odom and Jamey Creel.

Mr. Middleton was born in Colquitt, Ga., July 9, 1932, to the late Fred Middleton and Alice Cleveland Middleton. He was a charter member of Westview United Methodist Church but attended Centerville United Methodist Church. He was very active in all aspects of the church’s operation and ministries. He was a retired electrician and owner/operator of Middleton Electric Motor Service for about 54 years. He was a former two term mayor for the City of Blakely. He received his AA degree from Wallace Jr. College, Dothan, Ala., and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and also was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Arrie Lou Middleton, and one brother, Will Middleton.

His survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary Ann Temples Middleton of Blakely, Ga.; one son, Andy Middleton and Debra of Blakely; one sister, Betty Sue Daniels and John of Simpsonville, S.C.; and a special granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Creel of Blakely.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Centerville United Methodist Church, Blakely, GA 39823.

Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
