DAR remembers past members

The regular meeting of the Peter Early Chapter NSDAR was held Thursday, May 17 Moby Dick’s Restaurant in Colquitt.

The memorial service and luncheon was held in honor of two beloved members of the Peter Early Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sarah Pipkin King, a 35-year member, passed away Nov. 22, 2017, and Addie Kenney Mallory, a 31- year member, passed away April 26, 2018.

Louise Jones, Past Regent/Treasurer of the chapter and niece of Mrs. Mallory, officiated the memorial service. Mrs. King’s two daughters, Joan Lashley of Cuthbert and Dr. Gail Nesbitt of Cordele, were in attendance.

The awards received this past year from the Georgia State Society NSDAR were displayed in a scrapbook including the Southwest District 2017 Good Citizen Essay Contest winner, Courtney Keith.

Earlier in May, awards and medals were given to the winning students who participated in the 2017 DAR Essay Contest and the DAR Good Citizen Program.
