ECSS and sheriff’s department providing School Resource Officers

The Early County School System and the Early County Sheriff ’s Department have entered an agreement providing the school system two School Resource Officers.

One SRO will provide school safety 40 hours a week, the other officer for 20 hours a week.

While on assignment, the duties of the School Resource Officers shall include but not necessarily be limited to the following: a. Respond swiftly and effectively to major disruptions at school, including but not limited to the possession or use of weapons at school; b. Monitor and maintain school safety; c. Discourage criminal activity; d. Project professional and approachable law enforcement image and presence; e. Liaison between the Sheriff and the Board and foster cooperative relationship between the parties.

School Superintendent

Dr. Brownyn Regan-Martin and Sheriff William Price are both committed to “putting safety first in our schools.”

“We are elated to be continuing a strong relationship between law enforcement and our schools,” they stated jointly.
