Ann McLendon


Ann Amelia Stevens Lewis McLendon, 79, of 23430 Highway 37 W, Edison, Ga., passed away at her residence Thursday, May 10, 2018.

Mrs. McLendon was born Feb. 26, 1939, in Edison, Ga., to the late William Emmett Stevens Sr. and Vadye Lee Turner Stevens She was a secretary for the Calhoun County High School for many years, a member of Edison Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and she was a homemaker.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Marvette Lewis; a stepdaughter, Denise McLendon; a sister, Betty Jean Craft; and a brother, William Emmett Stevens Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Henry Thedford “Ted” McLendon; two daughters, Lisa Lewis and Lynne Roney; a stepdaughter, Melanie Sheppard and Hank; and a step-son, Glenn McLendon and Pam, all from Edison. She also has a nephew, Michael Calhoun of Milledgeville, Ga. There are four sisters, Dorothy Paul of Edison, Martha Lanier of the Patmos Community, Shirley Tsourmas and Gus of Oak Brook, Ill., Carol Fuller and Wynton of Eatonton, Ga.; and there are two brothers, Bobby Stevens and Martha Sue of Albany, Ga., and Jimmy Stevens and Judy of Panacea, Fla. She also had six grandchildren, Jennifer Kimbrel and Joey of Moultrie, Ga., Christin Milner and Scotty, Dylan Sheppard, Katie Sheppard all of Edison, Ga., Michael McLendon and Micaela of Atlanta, Ga., and Christa Bracey and Dylan of Manassas, Va.; and five greatgrandchildren, Creek Kimbrel of Moultrie, Easton, Scotty and Kaydi Milner, all of Edison, and Tobias Henry Bracey of Manassas, Va.

The funeral service was held Monday, May 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Edison Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Gaines officiating. The family received friends for a visitation Sunday, May 13, 2018, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely.

Active pallbearers were Chris Kendrick, Mark Miller, Steven Calhoun, Lou Gary, Alan Craft, Steve Williams, Terry Stevens and David Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Arlen Eubanks, Bobby Brooks, Frank Miller, Aldine Owen, John McGriff and John Brockman.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that contributions be made to either Edison Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
