Bill Harrison

Retired

Bill Lee Harrison, 85, of Blakely, Ga., passed away Friday, May 4, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Harrison was born April 29, 1933, in Lakeland, Fla., to the late Neal E. Harrison and Nina Loyed Harrison Welch. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Blakely, the Men’s Bible Class and he was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean conflict. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UAB and he received a master’s degree in international banking at UAB. Mr. Harrison retired from Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill as a refinery room operator for paper machines 1 and 2.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sheppard Harrison.

Survivors include a daughter, Ginny Harrison Kyle and Mike of Coconut Creek, Fla.; cousins, George Loyed and Chris of Blakely and Panama City Beach, Fla., Charles Loyed of Moore, S.C., Bill Loyed and Theresa of Columbus, Miss., and several other special cousins.

Funeral services were Monday, May 7, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating. Burial followed in the Blakely Cemetery with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marines’ funeral honors team.

Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
