Blakely Union High Class of 1959 enjoy reunion during Peanut Proud. Blakely Union High Class of 1959 enjoy reunion during Peanut Proud. The class of 1959, Blakely-Union High School met on March 24 to help celebrate the Peanut Proud Festival. Those from out of town were met with a big surprise — a traffic jam. This was the first indication that Peanut Proud was going to be a lot of fun and a big success.

The idea to have a class reunion during the Peanut Proud Festival was proposed by Carleen Bell Logan. After a few phone calls to classmates, the enthusiasm was there to meet for a luncheon get together.

Cary Logan arranged for use of the Chamber of Commerce Boardroom and Bob and Barbara McLendon provided box lunches for the occasion catered by Funny Girl. Pictures of the gathering were made by Martha and Phillip Moore.

There were 15 members of the class present as well as many spouses. This represented about half of our original class. Those present were: Chester and Linda Stokes, Cary and Carleen Bell Logan, Phillip and Martha Pritchett Moore, Larry and Peggy Enfinger, David and Margot Wynne, Glenn and Mary Farr, Bob and Barbara McLendon, Ladon and Ann Knighton Jordan, Bob and Priscilla Marshall Miles, Johnny and Cathy Gleaton, Martha Ellen Houston Price, Wilson Still, June Sims Winkler, Otis Sinquefield and Franklin and Jean Murkerson White.

To the delight of the class, John and Barbara White Pritchett, Jimmy and Glyndell Thompson George, Warren and Sheila Pitts Baxley, Priscilla Jones Collins, Caroline Whitehead Plyer, Patricia Gay McGregor and Mary Edith Gleaton Bush dropped in to say hello.

Thanks to Peanut Proud Blakely for a great excuse to have a reunion and congratulations for a successful hometown event!
