New K9 deputy

Mocha and Deputy Rollins Davis Mocha and Deputy Rollins Davis The Early County Sheriff’s office recently welcomed a new deputy to the force — Mocha, an 11-month-old Belgian Malinois. Mocha was donated to the SO in January by Nina and Nick Fuller.

Mocha and her assigned handler, Deputy Rollins Davis, will team up and join Zeus and Sgt. Kevin Naramore to complete the K-9 unit.

Mocha recently received high marks during her first three weeks of training.

Mocha and Deputy Davis will continue their certification training in March at the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office.

Mocha should be on patrol by early April as a multi-purpose K-9, specializing in narcotics detection and tracking.

There has been a great deal of support from the community. Generous donations from Ace Hardware, along with Daniel and Jennifer Serna, have made it possible to add this second team to the K-9 unit and continue training.

Anyone wishing to contribute to help maintain the K-9 unit or would like a workplace demonstration can contact Sgt. Kevin Naramore at 723-3158.

The expanded K-9 unit will continue its mission to augment the patrol division, assist in illegal drug investigations and provide tracking when needed.
