Nathaniel Gordon

Lt. Commander U. S. Navy

Nathaniel Dock “Dee” Gordon, 47, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at his residence in Chesapeake, Va.

Dee was born Aug. 29, 1970, in Donalsonville, Ga., to Nathan Gordon and Rebekah Shelley. He graduated from Early County High School, received an Electrical Engineering Degree from Auburn University and a Master’s Degree in Homeland Security from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Norfolk, Va. For the past 28 years, Dee has been in the U. S. Navy, having achieved the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a U.S. Naval Aviator and for many years he has been stationed at the Norfolk VA Naval Base. He served several tours of duty overseas during the Desert Storm operation in Iraq and Kuwait, as a helicopter pilot.

Survivors include his wife, Stefanie Paige Gordon, and his two beautiful daughters, Macy and Bethany Gordon, all of Chesapeake, Va.; his parents, Nathan and Linda Gordon of Blakely, Ga., and Rebekah Shelly of Newport, Ark.; two sisters, Dee Dee Widener and her husband Jeff, and Debbie Taylor and her husband Jimmy, all of Blakely; his in-laws, Karen and Frank D’Angelo of Perry, Ga., and Steve and Lea Jean Manry of Blakely; brother in-law, Bo Manry and his wife Heather of Peachtree City, Ga.; and sister-in-law, Hannah Manry of Decatur, Ga. He also is survived by aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blakely with Rev. Scott Brenton and Rev. Dwight Bishop officiating. Burial was in the Blakely Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Funeral Detail. The family received friends for a visitation Sunday afternoon, Feb. 11, 2018, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m at Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
