We have lots going on at the Chamber and we need you! Did you know individual memberships are $64 per year? And, you can pay quarterly, semi-annually or annually? Business memberships are also very reasonable — beginning at $118 annually. I ask businesses who are not members, why? There is value in Chamber membership. Join and make the Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce everything it can be!

Annual Banquet

The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce 68th Annual Banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Kolomoki Mounds State Park – Hicita. Great food! Great Fellowship! Entertainment by the Back-Porch Posse to get your toes tapping! And, we will have news from Georgia Chamber. Morgan Law will share information on the 2018 Economic Outlook for Rural Georgia. Chamber Dinner

The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the PAGE Student/Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Student/Teacher program every year. Chamber Chairman will announce 2017-18 System-Wide STAR Student at Rotary Feb. 8.

Youth Leadership

Training

The Chamber is partnering with Family Connection to kick-off Youth Leadership Training Friday, Feb. 9. Juniors from Early County High School and Southwest Georgia Academy who are in the top 10 percent of their class are invited to complete an application to be accepted in the 2018 Youth Leadership Training. There will be five Friday training sessions (4 hours) and two field trips which includes a trip to the State Capitol during the legislative session. Application deadline is Feb. 5. Bicentennial Cookbook

The Chamber is working on a Bicentennial Cookbook which will include family anecdotal stories, recipes and pictures. Your family should be included in this book. Please call the Chamber for more information at 229-723- 3741.

New Board Member

Training

We have five new board members: Brooks Carter, Tracey Kirkland, Aaron Reichard, Steve Singletary, and Jennifer Thompson. They will receive board member training in February.

First Thursday

Kick-Off

First Thursday spring kick-off will be March 1. We are setting up meeting with retailers, vendors and volunteers to make First Thursdays great in 2018.

Arts Council

The Chamber is making plans to re-organize the Arts Council to promote the arts in Early County. Would you like to be part of this organization? Please call the Chamber 229-723-3741 for more information.

Chamber Retreat

What three initiatives should the Chamber work on in 2018? We will try and decide on March 14th.
