Unsung Hero Banquet set for Saturday, Feb. 24

Stapleton, Summerset to be honored

Pastor Stapleton Pastor Stapleton The Freedom Council of Southwest Georgia has announced Pastor Eddie Stapleton and Freddie Summerset are being recognized as this year’s Unsung Heroes for their dedicated service to the community.

They will be honored at the 14th annual Unsung Hero Banquet Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Blakely Civic Center at 6:30 p.m.

Pastor Stapleton is being recognized for going above and beyond his call of duty as a pastor in Early County. He is involved in many of the community’s outreach efforts and organizations. He is also a mentor for many of the community’s youth.

Mr. Summerset is also being recognized for his service to the community. He has been instrumental in organizing and hosting programs that have benefited community members in need. He also plays a vital role in the lives of many bereaved community families, serving and consoling them with his melodious voice.

Eddie Summerset Eddie Summerset The Freedom Council of Southwest Georgia strives to educate, bring cultural awareness, ensure economic, social and environmental justice, and identify inequalities that exist in Early County and surrounding communities.

Unsung Heroes are community members who make our community better through their efforts, but who are rarely rewarded. The Unsung Hero gives of their time, talents, efforts, personal money and resources, without monetary gain or recognition to make our community better.
