Franklin Barron


Franklin Lee Barron Sr. passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 21, 2018, at his residence.

Mr. Barron was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Columbus, Ga., to the late Monroe Wiley Barron and Helen Beatrice Polk Barron. He was the owner/operator of Frank Barron Truck Sales in Damascus, Ga; a member of White Pond Freewill Baptist Church, a member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge and the Hasan Shrine Temple in Albany and was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Lee Barron Jr.; and a brother, Monroe Wiley Barron Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Regina McDowell Barron of Damascus; a daughter, Donna Lee Barron of Alexander City, Ala; three sons, Michael Scott Barron and Tami of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jeffrey Sean Barron and Jessica of Buchanan, Ga., and Mac Bradley Barron and Katherine of Gainesville, Ga.; a sister, Wyline B. McDowell and Ladon of Blakely, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Barron and Collette of Sylacauga, Ala., Alex Barron of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Jessica Sears Catrett and Michael of Calera, Ala., Michael Sears of Savannah, Ga., Robert Christian Barron, Kaylyn Leanne Barron and Lillian Elizabeth Barron, all three of Buchanan, Ga., Triston Usry of Statesboro, Ga., Benjamin Wilder Barron, Samuel Wiley Barron and Jude Willett Barron, all three of Gainesville, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Preston Reese Barron, Brighton Presley Barron, and Abigail Wilson.

Funeral services are today, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Father Ben Dallas officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation starting at 2 p.m. A private, family only burial will follow the funeral service at Crossroads Cemetery in Damascus.

Active pallbearers are Christopher Barron, Michael Sears, Triston Usry, Christian Barron, Ben Barron, Eddie McDowell, Heath McDowell and Michael Catrett. Honorary pallbearers are Hudon Graham, Brad Engram and Kyle Dykes.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Freewill Baptist Childrens Home, P.O. Box 8, Eldridge, AL 35554 or to Shriners Childrens Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.

Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
