Sue Cook

Sue Grimsley Cook, 87, of Fort Gaines, Ga., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at LifeBrite Community Hospital of Early in Blakely.

Mrs. Cook was born April 5, 1930, in Fort Gaines, daughter of the late William Grady and Robbie McAllister Grimsley. She was the wife of the late Claude Morris Cook Jr.

She was a graduate of Shorter College and the University of Georgia earning her specialist degree in education. She worked as a social worker for one year in Atlanta, Fulton County before returning to Fort Gaines and working in the school system as librarian, Title 1 coordinator and classroom teacher. Mrs. Cook was a lifelong member of Fort Gaines Presbyterian and also a member of Fort Gaines Presbyterian Women, Fort Gaines Women’s Club, the Presbyterian Women, National Educators Association and Georgia Association of Educators.

Survivors include two daughters, Susie Ann Cook Rhodes and Catherine Cook Rice, both of Fort Gaines; a son, Claude Morris Cook III of Lake Park, Ga.; a sister, Peggy Grimsley Brown of Fort Gaines; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, in Fort Gaines Presbyterian Church with interment to follow in New Park Cemetery. Rev. Wade Spooner will officiate.

There will be a short visitation at graveside following services.
