Tragedy strikes friends

Mumbles

Our fellow newspaper folks in Bainbridge have been in our prayers this week as they mourn one of their own who was shot down Thursday by thugs attempting to rob him in the Post Searchlight parking lot.

Longtime employee Hubert Moore, 67, was killed in the PSL parking lot.

Georgia has been named the No. 1 state in the nation in which to do business for the fifth consecutive year.

“By emphasizing strong partnerships on both the state and local levels, we have cultivated an economic environment that produces greater opportunities for hardworking people, generates investment in local communities and improves the overall quality of life for Georgia families,” Gov. Deal stated in response to the announcement.

Personally, I’m looking for the headline... “RURAL Georgia has been named No. 1 in the nation in which to do business!”

The governor points to “our low tax burden and economic assets, including a robust workforce and unparalleled connectivity” attracting industry leaders from across the country and around the world.

We have the economic assets (infrastructure). We also fit in that “unparalleled connectivity” dynamic he mentions. It is time — past time — for us to think outside the box about our workforce!
