BHS Class of 1962 enjoys reunion

Old friendships were renewed, memories relived and new friends introduced Friday Oct. 20, Saturday, Oct. 21 and Sunday, Oct. 22 as the Blakely High School class of 1962 met to celebrate their 55th reunion.

On Friday night Jerry Scarborough catered a get together at Martha and Phillip Moore’s Cuba Zoo Pond House. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship, delicious food and a surprise visit from a special guest, Minnie Pearl (Ann Jones).

Festivities continued Saturday night with everyone enjoying a seafood buffet at Blakely Town and Country Club. Memory candles were lit for the 15 deceased members which included David Easom, Jimmy Belisle, Billy McFay, Jimmy Clyde Still, Vivian Gilbert Hallman, Janie Sims Timmons, Sue Ann Buckingham Bedient, Sterling McLain, William F. “Billy” Underwood Jr., David Williams, Riley Anglin, Jimmy “Catfish” Middleton, Kathy Rice Proulx, Ramsey Rimes and Margaret McLendon Moreland

Closing out the weekend, Joan King Lashley and Anne Knighton Gleaton hosted a breakfast at Sara King’s “Little Red House” behind her home on North Main St.

A wonderful weekend was enjoyed by everyone and classmates are looking forward to their next reunion in 2020.
