Bobcats lose to Thomasville Bulldogs

The 8th ranked Thomasville Bulldogs defeated the Bobcats 38- 10 Friday night in Thomasville to remain undefeated.

The Bobcats scored an apparent touchdown on their second possession when Javiah Wimberly raced 21 yards into the end zone. A penalty cancelled the score, however. The Bulldogs’ defense then held the Bobcats inside the 10 and Alex Warr gave the Bobcats a 3-0 lead with a 22-yard field goal.

Thomasville took a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter and stretched the lead before halftime with a 55-yard punt return which gave them a 14-3 lead.

A five-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter gave the Bulldogs a 21-3 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs recovered an onsides kick to open the second half and drove to the Bobcats’ 16 before the Cats’ defense held on downs.

The Bobcats drove to the Bulldogs’ 14 before the drive was thwarted by an interception.

The Bobcats scored on their next possession when Ja’mone King hauled in a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Luke Jester. Warr’s PAT made the score 21-10 late in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter, however, with a field goal and two touchdowns.

Aaron Yarbrough was the Bobcats’ leading rusher with 81 yards on 11 carries. Luke Jester ran for 80 yards on three carries. Jester completed seven of 13 passes.

The defense was led by Nykia Ofton, Jamal Washington, and Jontavius Johnson with six solo tackles, Escondarius Pinkney and Cesar Garcia with five solo tackles and a fumble recovery, Ryan Wade with four solos including two for losses, and Carter Rowland with two solos, including one for a loss.

The Bobcats have an open date Fridy. They travel to Fitzgerald Oct. 27 to play the Purple Hurricane. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
