Former school superintendent and Bobcat football coach, Ric Hall, was honored Friday night as honorary game captain.

He was a member of the 1964 Blakely Bobcat State Championship Team, but was honored Friday night for 35 years of service to Bobcat football since his playing days.

Ric and his family returned to Blakely in 1982 when he was hired to coach the Bobcats. After four years as the Bobcats’ head coach, he eventually was elected school superintendent. He and his wife Kaye both retired in 2001.

He was a founding member of the Century Club, and the Friends of Early County Schools, which was instrumental in building the weight room. He and Jay Palmer were the voice of Bobcat Radio for 28 years.

He continues to be seen most Friday nights in the stands supporting the Bobcats.

He was presented a plaque which read in part “We have learned many things from you, but what you have taught us through your actions is how to love and support the Bobcats.”
