Burglaries, break-ins...

Authorities are investigating a rash of break-ins and burglaries and asking the public to be aware and contact investigators with any information they may have.

The sheriff’s office responded to multiple locations Thursday morning on North and South Main where burglaries or damage to property was reported.

On North Main St., Blakely Chicken, J&J Hot Dogs and a vacant building had been broken into. On South Main St., Rib Talk BBQ reported a break-in. Early Auto Parts on Murdock St. also reported an apparent attempted break in. No items of substantial value were reported missing at any of the locations. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the burglaries and asks anyone with information to please contact the Investigative Division at 723-3158.

A vehicle stolen in Blakely Saturday night was aparently used in an attempted break-in in Columbia. The stolen van was discovered abandoned by the Houston Co. Sheriff’s Office at a convenience store where suspects had attempted to break into the store.

The vehicle had been stolen from B&M Auto & Truck Service on Columbia Highway in Blakely. A break-in was subsequently discovered at Stan’s Auto West on Columbia Highway across the street from where the van was stolen.

The Early County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Houston County, Ala., Sheriff’s Office to investigate these crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Investigative Division of the Early County Sheriff’s Office at 723-3158 or the Houston County Sheriff’s Office at 334-677-4809.
