Lifebrite takeover of local hospital delayed to Sept. 30

The News announced June 28 that Lilburn, Ga.-based LifeBrite Hospital Group’s Asset Purchase Agreement bid had been approved by the bankruptcy court, and that a management transition would begin Aug. 31.

At the time Scott K. Phillips, Chief Restructuring Officer, stated “the proposed closing date under the asset purchase agreements for Aberdeen and Early is Aug. 31.” There is a six-month transition agreement with Pioneer beginning Aug. 31.

However, that proposed closing date was delayed due to unresolved Pioneer Health Services legal issues.

The management transition is now expect- ed to begin Sept. 30. Lifebrite Chief Executive Officer Christian Fletcher and Chief Financial Officer Warren Binderman attended last week’s Hospital Authority.

In addition to Pioneer Community Hospital of Early, Lifebrite, the “stalking horse” bidder whose bid set the base for other bidders, has already acquired Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes in Danbury, N.C.
