Jerry Taylor


Jerry Thomas Taylor, 59, of Arlington, Ga., passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Ga.

Mr. Taylor was born Oct. 31, 1957, in Cuthbert, Ga., to the late Marvin Casey Taylor Sr. and his mother, Mary Frances White Whiddon of Arlington. He was a retired business owner and former fire chief of the Arlington Fire Department, with about 20 years devoted to the fire department. He was a member of Arlington Baptist Church.

Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, John Daniel Whiddon; and a brother, Danny Whiddon.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Frances White Whiddon; his wife, Evelyn Faye Edwards Taylor; two daughters, Stacey Honeyman and husband Chris of Cleveland, Tenn., and their children, Christian Johnson and wife Brandy, and greatgranddaughter to Jerry, Gracyn Kaitlyn Carroll and husband Josh, Jacob and Sadie Honeyman; Jerry’s daughter, Brittney Burton and husband Steve of Albany, Ga., and their children, Bryce, Brayden and Taylor Haise Burton; Jerry’s two sons, Jerry Taylor and wife Deidra of Sylvester, Ga., and their children, Faith, Raleigh and Addison Taylor, Travis Taylor and wife Stephanie of Ellijay, Ga., and their children, Abby, Alli and Waylon Taylor; Jerry’s two brothers, Casey Taylor and wife Karen of Arlington, and Ronald Whiddon and wife Rhonda of Leary, Ga.; Evelyn and Jerry’s adopted son, Kenneth Williams of Arlington; step-mother, Grace Taylor; and a step-sister, Robbie Wood and husband Bill.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Arlington Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Hadden officiating. Burial followed in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fire Chief Trey Mock, Assistant Fire Chief Wendell Whitaker and firefighters Trent Mock, Kenny Williams, Jonathan Farris and Patrick Newberry.

Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
