Hall named “Teacher of the Year”


School System “Teacher of the Year” Brooke Hall with ECES principal Matthew Cullifer School System “Teacher of the Year” Brooke Hall with ECES principal Matthew Cullifer Early County Elementary School teacher Brooke Hall is the 2017 Early County School System Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made by Superintendent Dr. Bronwyn Ragan- Martin during an employee recognition reception Tuesday, May 9 at Early County Middle School.

Brooke teaches the moderately intellectually impaired students in the Early County Program for Exceptional Children.

Ms. Hall will represent Early County Schools at the Georgia Teacher of the Year program. She was nominated by Sonja Rowland, Early County School System, RTI Coordinator.

The program was revised this year with teachers being nominated by parents, students and staff. The employees in each school voted for their respective Teacher of the Year.

Other winners included ECMS Teacher of the Year Amy Palmer and ECHS Teacher of the Year Leigh Anne Collins.

Retirees Honored

ECSS retirees were also honored during the reception with Superintendent Ragan-Martin roasting retiring ECHS principal David Ferry. Ferry’s career with Early County Schools began in 1988 as band director for the Band of Blue. He also held various administrative positions throughout the school system.

Ferry recognized ECHS athletic director and head football coach Trey Woolf, who is retiring with 29 years of service.

Donnie Yarbrough who is replacing Ferry as ECHS principal, ECMS retirees. Sixth grade math teacher Veita Ford is retiring with 32 years of service and Geraldine Shorter who retired as lunchroom supervisor after 44 years of service in December 2016. A moment of silence was held in memory of Helen Murray who retired in August 2016 with 30 years of service.
