Council approves rezoning
Last week’s Blakely City Council meeting began with a public hearing on two rezoning requests. Later, in the council meeting, the city council approved the two requests — one from AG to R-1A on Lucile Road and COM to R-2 on Howell Street.
The council also approved an alcoholic beverage license for wine and beer at South Main Foods located at the corner of Columbia and South Main Streets.
Assistant E911 director Jim Copp introduced and recognized Chris Cox, Jade McCorkle and Shannon Kidwell for completion of the Basic Communications Officer training.
The council also adopted updates to the Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Ordinance as presented by city attorney Tommy Coleman.
