J.W. Thomas, 85, of Dothan, Ala., passed away Feb. 11, 2017.
Mr. Thomas was born March 10, 1931, in Early County, Ga., to the late Beecham T. Thomas and Fanny Mae McFay Thomas. He was a certified journeyman plumber and retired from his company of many years in Atlanta, Ga. He moved to south Alabama in 1997 and became a farmer. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Toler Thomas; and a sister, Alma Howard.
Survivors include five daughters, Sandra Thomas of Dothan, Toni Medcalf and husband Tom of Lynn Haven, Fla., Gail Barnes and John of Huntsville, Ala., Darlene Wood of Covington, Ga., and Tina Parker of Dothan; one brother, Donald Thomas of Adamsville, Tenn., three sisters, Louise Turner of Clarksville, Ga., Lucy Nell Weaver of Villa Rica, Ga., and Merle Woods and husband Willis of Bremen, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren
Graveside funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. EST in the Blakely Cemetery with Preston Hammon officiating.
Pallbearers were Tom Medcalf, Alan Benefield, Jackie Battles, Preston Hammon and Dorman Simmons.
Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
