67th annual Chamber meeting

The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce held its 67th Annual Meeting Thursday night at Polly’s, officially launching the chamber’s new year.

2016 Chamber Chairman Kenneth Hall passed the gavel to incoming chairman Bradley Grantham and welcomed new board members Celia Bostwick, Robert Chester, Lori Haddock, Hank Jester and Wallace O’Neal.

Grantham recognized outgoing board members Melanie Brown, Richard Crozier, Nita Enfinger and Kenneth Hall and presented them a plaque of appreciation for their service.

Hall announced the recipient of this year’s Thomas B. McDowell Scholarship is ECHS graduate Jessica Griggs who is attending ABAC.

BHT secretary Vicki Kornegay presented the Blakely Hometown Beautification Award to Boone & Stone.

President Kyle Kornegay announced the S.T.A.R. students and teachers will be honored at a special program at the Blakely Rotary Club luncheon and presented the chamber’s year end review.

The evening’s entertainment was provided by guest speaker Jonathan “Bear” Woods and musical skits by the Early Birds and Early Risers.
