SGA celebrates Georgia Day

Southwest Georgia Academy fourth graders ended their year of Georgia studies with an exhibit of their work on Friday afternoon in the academy cafeteria.

While visiting many sites throughout the state and local areas, the students collected materials which they used to make individual Georgia scrapbooks.

These books were displayed for parents, students and school personnel to see.

One scrapbook used the pop-up technique, while another used Dr. Seuss’s popular idea of “O The Places You Will Go” focusing on Georgia places.

After thumbing though the scrapbooks, guests were invited to enjoy the delicious foods made from Georgia products.

These foods, made by the parents, included pecan pie, peach cobbler, blueberry crumb cake, peanut and pecan brittle, peanut butter cookies, chicken salad and homemade peach ice cream.

Terri Lawrence is the fourth grade teacher who planned the field trips and “Georgia Day” activities.
