Princess Macy benefit

The Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit pediatric cancer foundation, will announce its mission Sept. 11 at the Princess Macy Benefit in Blakely.

The Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation was established in memory of Macy Easom, four-year-old daughter of Jeff and Angel Easom of Warner Robins who was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare form of pediatric liver cancer, who passed away at the age of five.

The foundation’s mission is to provide funding to enable research devoted to finding a cure and treatment for hepatoblastoma and other pediatric cancers while promoting public awareness.

“Macy’s parents and I grew up in Blakely and her grandparents still live here,” says Lisa Easom Howard, foundation board member and Macy’s aunt. “No better place to share the mission of the foundation than with those we grew up with and learned from.”

The benefit begins at 7 p.m. at Funny Girl deli on Court Square. The event will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction, music and a brief presentation. Tickets for the event are $25, dress is business casual.

“This foundation is something we hold dear to our hearts,” says Howard. “It would not be possible without the support of our hometown community.”
