Jack Fiveash

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Jack Benford Fiveash, age 82, of Donalsonville, Ga., who passed away M o n d ay, Jan. 11, 2010, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Mr. Fiveash was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., on Nov. 29, 1927, to the late Clyde Benford and Mary Clyde Perry Fiveash. He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1944 and then served his country in the United States Navy. After returning from the Navy, he worked for a short time with Georgia Power before beginning work with Three Notch Electric Membership Corporation on April 5, 1948. He worked for many years as a lineman and meter technician before being promoted to operations manager in the Donalsonville office in the late 1960s. Under his leadership, Three Notch EMC became the modern, efficient electric utility company that we know today. Mr. Fiveash retired on Jan. 3, 1997, after 48 years and almost 10 months with the company. During his retirement years, Mr. Fiveash enjoyed amateur radio, building and flying remote control model airplanes, and collecting model trains. He was also an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Benford and Mary Clyde Perry Fiveash.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Jacqueline White Fiveash of Donalsonville, Ga.; two daughters, Perianne Fiveash Roth and her husband Fred of Alabaster, Ala., and Mary Fiveash Youmans and her husband Bob of Iron City, Ga; a son, Technical Sergeant Jack B. Fiveash Jr. and his wife Kristine of Robins Air Force Base, Ga; and a brother, Bobby Clyde Fiveash and his wife Verla of Toronto, Canada; and mother-inlaw Lucille Harrell White of Blakely. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Wesley Youmans, William Youmans, Warren Youmans, Kelby Roth, Dylan Fiveash and Brittany Fiveash.

Funeral services for Mr. Fiveash were held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga., with Rev. Tim Bell officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery.

Active casketbearers were Bob Youmans, Wesley Youmans, William Youmans, Warren Youmans, Fred Roth, Fred Fiveash, Larry Harrell and Brian Harrell.

Honorary casketbearers were employees of Three Notch EMC and Terry Batchelor.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
