McLendon - Phillips

Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle McLendon Jr. of Blakely announce the engagement of their daughter, Alexandria Day McLendon, to Joshua Allen Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Allen Phillips of Colquitt.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mary Kate McLendon and the late Hoyle McLendon Sr. and Marshall and Betty Day, all of Blakely.

Miss McLendon graduated from Early County High School in 2005 and currently attends Valdosta State University. She will complete a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education in May and will attend New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in the fall. She is employed by First Baptist Church of Valdosta as the children's director.

The bridegroom is the grandson of Maston and Pat Phillips and Marvin and Laverne Boyd and the late Sue Boyd, all of Colquitt.

Mr. Phillips is a 2006 graduate of Miller County High School. He attends Brewton Parker College and will earn a bachelor of ministry degree in December.

The wedding will be Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Blakely, with a reception to follow at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle McLendon Jr. All family and friends are invited to attend.
