City adopts $17 million 2010 budget
The Blakely City Council approved a resolution to adopt the 2010 $17 million budget at its last council meeting of 2009 at the City Annex Dec. 1.
Council member Torre Mills requested agencies receiving support from the city be asked to submit copies of their budgets and reports on their activities throughout the year.
Engineer Paul Simonton reported on bids for a portion of the city’s CBDG stimulus grant for a sewer project. The accepted bid was from Blankenship for $383,800.
A beer and wine license was approved for Jim Woods along with renewal of alcohol licenses for 22 establishments in the city.
The council adopted an ordinance allowing the deannexation of the Knight property, an agricultural tract which was inadvertantly included in an annexation associated with the airport several years ago.
The council also approved a renewal of the lease of the senior center on Meadowbrook to the Sowega Council on Aging for operation of a senior center.
