Samuel Zipperer

Samuel Derrick Zipperer Jr., 78, died October 27, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Zipperer was born in Savannah July 18, 1931. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He spent 32 years living in Blakely and retired from Georgia Pacific. After he retired he moved to Ponte Vedra Beach. He was a member of Beach United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, American Legion and Spring Lake Fishing Club. Survivors include his wife, Patricia E. Zipperer; two daughters, Lisa Bates and Cathy Mauldin and husband, Chris; one brother, Harry Zipperer and wife Kay; one sister, Mable Spivey; and two grandchildren, Carter Bates and Samantha Mauldin. Memorial services were Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Quinn-Shalz with full military honors. Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., was in charge of arrangements. |
