EARLY County High School crowned their homecoming queens, Monique Moses and Bijal Patel, Friday night during halftime ceremonies.

THE WESTWOOD Wildcats visited Damascus Friday night and took control of the race for the region 3-AA crown with a 20-12 win over the SGA Warriors.

KATIE LeRoy was crowned queen at the annual Early County Peanut Pageant last month.

Nov. 8, 1984

THE EARLY County Bobcats are headed to a likely showdown with top-ranked Dooly County in the first round of the 1-AA playoffs.

TAMMY Hunnicutt, 14-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hunnicutt, will compete in the Miss Sunburst Pageant to be held in Dothan Saturday, Nov. 10.

C.T. HAZELWOOD, production manager, Great Southern Paper, Cedar Springs, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina State Pulp and Paper Foundation.

Nov. 12, 1959

SERGEANT Major Henry G. Chapman, son of Mrs. Cora Chapman of Blakely, was presented the Army Commendation Ribbon with metal pendant during ceremonies conducted at Third UN. S. Army Headquarters, Ft. McPherson, Ga., last week.

DR. JOHN C. Patterson, prominent Cuthbert physician and head of Patterson Hospital, died at his home in the city Sunday night, succumbing to a heart attack.

THE BLAKELY Bobcats, victors over Turner County 46 to 6 the past Friday night, clinching the Region 1- B West title, and Brooks County, winner of the 1-B East title, will meet in Quitman Friday night, November 20.

75 YEARS AGO

Nov. 8, 1934

THE THOMASVILLE Bulldogs proved too much for the Blakely Bobcats last Friday and came out on top by the score of 25 to 6. The Bobcats sent in Pritchett, A.J. Singletary, Lee, Alexander, Fryer, Gay, Hudspeth, Hayes, W. Singletary, R. Duke and B. Duke.

J.D WILLIAMS, former Early County warden, has been made patrolman of the State Highways of this county, succeeding Willis Collins.

Nov. 12, 1909

THE HOME of Mr. J.W. Alexander Jr., on South Main Street, was destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning.

MR. W.T. Hammack, of Bluffton, went up to the automobile races in Atlanta the past week.

MR. C.C. Tarver, of Clayton, Ala., is visiting in Blakely this week.

125 YEARS AGO

Nov. 6, 1884

A NICE young lady arrived in town this week. We hope that time will DEAL gently with her.

THE ELECTION in Early County gave Cleveland (D) 710, Blaine (R) 247. Blaine carried Cedar Springs by 30 majority, but received only 5 votes at Damascus.

IF IT SHOULD ever rain any more, our farmers should lose no time in putting in a heavy oat crop.

THE NEWS from the election last Tuesday is hardly full enough as yet to say that Cleveland is elected, but it looks that way.
